When Joe Gillis started Dutch Oil Company in 1972, he began supplying lubricant products to local commercial accounts out of the back of a small trailer. In the 40+ years since then, Dutch Lubricants has evolved into one of the premier regional distributors of high quality lubricant products to customers in the Southeast and beyond.
From the beginning, Joe had a vision for the expansion of the lubricants business. That vision began to take shape in 1981, when he hired Gary Winklepleck to run the lubricants division of Dutch Oil Company, with a focus on building commercial and industrial business. In 1986, they made their first major acquisition, purchasing a Texaco distributor in Grenada, MS. By 1995, the lubricants business had outgrown the Dutch Oil Company office in Columbus, MS and Dutch Lubricants was formed, complete with a brand new Columbus distribution center. Over the next ten years, Dutch Lubricants grew exponentially, expanding into Jackson (1998), Tupelo (2001), McComb (2002), and Birmingham, AL (2004). In 2003, Dutch Lubricants launched its first private label brand, “Dutch”, adding “First Line” as its premium private label in 2007.
Today, Dutch Lubricants operates four distribution centers serving markets in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana. On top of its “Dutch” and “First Line” brands, Dutch Lubricants is a contract supplier of Shell, AeroShell, ConocoPhillips, and Castrol products.
